Devlog 6: End of Sprint 01!


Programming Update:

Our brilliant code wizards have been cooking up some spicy features!  First off, cannon charging is now fully operational — hold down that fire button to unleash a devastating power shot that'll make your enemies rethink their life choices. Boom! 

Bullet speeds have also been cranked up to keep things snappy and action-packed — no more waiting around for your shots to land. Pew pew! 

We've also reworked the cooldown system: now, the left and right sides of your ship have their own separate cooldowns. This keeps things balanced while still letting you go full pirate mode and blast from both sides if you're quick. 

Meanwhile, Viktor dove deep into the collision system, reworking how cannonballs interact with the world and laying the foundation for ship/environment collisions. It's still early days, but the first version is in and being tested! Hugo took that new collision magic and integrated it into the other blueprints too. Teamwork!

Sound Design Update:

SPLASH! Hugo’s been busy bringing your misses to life with some crisp new sound effects — now you’ll hear when your shots smack into the sea or collide with the scenery. It’s all about that immersive feedback. Miss with style!

Art Update:

While the brushes have been a little quieter this week, there’s still cool stuff happening! Foeke’s island assets got a fresh texture pass, and Carmen has been fine-tuning rock UVs and making sure VFX pop properly when a ship takes damage. 

There’s also ongoing polish work happening behind the scenes on islands and plants — not ready for prime time just yet, but looking great. And those power-up icons? The final versions are in the works, with three epic designs on the way!
