Devlog 9: Only playing once isn't really playing at all
And so the second sprint comes to an end
The last of our desired features have been added. Restarting, VFX, points, HUD, spawning and so on... Everything got some extra flavour this week.
First of all restarting. Previously having another crack at the kraken (or your own buddies, for our more traitorous compatriots) require exiting and entering the game. However no more, now when all players die or the kraken days, you can go right back into the action and start a new round without closing the game.
And the more competitive among us, we are happy to announce the implementation of score points.
These can be gained by defeating other players, and surviving the terrible kraken, and lost by being defeated by other players.
But remember the kraken gives a set amount of point, so if somebody where to have an "unfortunate" accident. Well then it's only normal that the rest has a bigger share right. No hard feelings bud.
For VFX we have a smorgasbord of different additions.
A nice trail to fallow behind your ship.
And a clear indicator of a tentacles imminent slap.
Our UI got some touch ups as well.
This takes the form of some cleaner player icons.
And for the final part, we have sound.
This is off course better experienced in game, but to name a few: spawn and death sounds for the kraken, the sound of the tides to announce the kraken, and some score sound have been added.
And thus we are going into the endgame with a variety of features and the prospect of polish ahead.
