Devlog 7: Menace below, now in color!
Week 1 of Sprint 2 is officially underway!
We're back at it and the level is really starting to come alive — you can finally feel the chaos brewing in the waters. The grand finale of our multiplayer madness is shaping up nicely: the epic showdown now features a fully textured, full-color kraken, ready to make its grand entrance mid-battle from the second camera perspective!
Huge shoutout to Foeke, who’s taken Erik’s beastly 3D model and turned it into something gloriously terrifying — think ancient sea monster meets modern sea menace. It’s spooky, it’s dramatic, and yeah… it’s kind of awesome.
On top of that, Foeke has whipped up some slick new visual effects that trigger when you miss your cannon shots and they splash into the water — making every failed shot just a little more cinematic.
Meanwhile, some early work has begun on what might just be our official logo or cover art ( stay tuned!) — we’re exploring ideas and laying down the first creative strokes.
Carmen has been conjuring chaos in tentacle form — modeling the eerie, slapping limbs of our tentacled menace that will soon reach out and smack unsuspecting players. She’s also experimenting with water interaction effects, making the tentacles feel like they’re disturbing the sea around them, adding that final touch of immersion to the kraken’s presence.

And on the audio & polish front — We’ve been diving into the sounds of the sea:
- Remixed the level’s music for a more intense vibe
- Added hover and confirm sounds for the UI
- Implemented sounds for the respawn start and end
- And introduced cooldown + invincibility mechanics for ships after they’re destroyed and respawning
Basically, things are looking and sounding a lot more alive (and dangerous)! Can’t wait to show more soon — until next time, stay salty, sailors!
